Thanks everyone!

They came and conquered!

Congrats to Freestyle on taking the RB2010 tournament. Freestyle went undefeated on Saturday’s play and took the number one ranking going into Sunday’s single elimination tournament. Freestyle’s Sunday play started with a matchup with UCR’s very own Andrew Loves Cupcakes. Andrew Loves Cupcakes, coming off a victory over Long Beach Hitmen in the first round, faced a talented and hungry Freestyle team. Andrew Loves Cupcakes jumped out to an early lead but the savvy veteran Freestyle crew stuck to their strengths and pulled away in the second half and was looking forward to the semi-finals. Awaiting them in the semi-finals was a very tough match up with the well respected Top Flight (Beatrock/Entourac) team. Top Flight is one of the many Long Beach crews represented in this year’s tourney. Top Flight fought tooth and nail and had Freestyle thinking they might be going home early. But once again Freestyle started clicking in all cylinders, and pulled away late and locked up their trip to the final game.

While Freestyle was advancing through their side of Sunday’s bracket, Long Beach’s very own Lights Out who loss their both of their games on Saturday, had to start Sunday at 9am. Lights Out’s day started with UCR’s very own Chicken Katsu. Light Out’s just proved to be too much for Chicken Katsu and cruised to a double digit victory. There was no rest for Lights Out, because waiting in the second round was IHOB based out of South Pasadena. IHOB gave them a good fight until the end, but fell short.

So the stage was set, Lights Out, an up and coming team from the South Bay League, against the veteran Freestyle team. Lights Out on their third game of the day, was not about to go home empty handed. They jumped out to an early lead against Freestyle, and Freestyle knew from then they had a game on their hands. But in the end, the Freestyle played through the ups and downs of the game and did not waiver and owned the deciding last two minutes of the game.

Congrats again to Freestyle on taking the RB2010 championship!

Stats and videos will be posted as they become available.

Thanks to all the teams and sponsors on making Riverside Ballin 2010 a success. See you next year!

Basketball Saturday Play

We originally were going to run two courts on Saturday for a 10 team (2 game) round robin play, but due to scheduling conflicts we will be using a single court and run all 10 games starting at 8am to 6pm. With that said, we should be able to fit most of everyone’s scheduling requests.

The schedule will be up by Monday!
