Close to the City of Buenos Aires, more precisely in the Munro, we went to capture the experience of a solidarity tour organized by the responsible travel agency Go Travel, Elvira Misery (owner of the agency) and his team presented to a group of foreigners when they finish their studies in Buenos Aires felt the need to give back to the community that welcomed them for months ventured on a tour volunteer day.
The activity began with an introductory lecture on the work of the Foundation, the volunteers were very interested in the topic, asking questions and getting involved with the cause, calling it “incredible” that a high level of poverty, many were discarded food businesses and farmers. Began to play a small radio with lively music, the boys chatted among themselves, laughing and working as a team with the target, classify 3800 kilos of mandarins and bagged for shipment to various dining rooms and organizations in the province of Buenos Aires. Meanwhile, we conducted our interviews, both the authorities of the bank and the agency. Once the task, the bank’s aides, greeted and thanked the children, stressing that with their help to understand that many children would be able to eat. Could be seen a mixture of feelings and expressions, including joy and sadness for having helped to understand and a really close look somewhat disturbing.
Into the mica toward the dining room, which opened in 2001, in crisis, and which now feeds 160 people? Volunteers are very reflective and noticed my mind on who would come face to face with that reality, which both had spoken to them in the foundation. We capture their arrival, all fell silent, and observing every detail they are presented. It was Rosa, the manager of the dining room “The Manito” and told us every detail of the work they do every day, those who help, and other activities take place there. The men found a way to reach out and share a moment together, playing a “chopped” in the paddock instead. With this experience I erase the language barrier and different cultures, and created a place for exchange between them; after the game, talked about their favorite teams, players and private issues of each. At the same time, the girls shared games, dances and chats with the girls in the room. The exchange came naturally, and we divide into two teams to record all situations. Turn talked with Rose and various contributors to the dining room, and performs the various interviews.
While some volunteers prepared the snack, others chatted, played, and the sad atmosphere that had been generated in the micro way to the dining room, vanished. They took a snack together and prepared a final game for the younger children of the place, “the game package,” while American boys, sang a song in their language, the package turned, and waiting for the big smiles of children. Then we take for our latest interviews and met with a group of volunteers really excited to have met people so loving and grateful with the work they performed on the day. I had a hard time saying goodbye to the people of the area, until it finally got on the mica, vowing someday to return.
